Today’s featured photo is “Bahia Honda”. Bahia Honda State Park is located on Bahia Honda Key in the Florida Keys. It is a beautiful state park that includes the old railroad bridge that was built by Henry Flagler in the early 20th century. It was later on modified to include roadways all the way to Key West. The old railway and road way are no longer used for automobile traffic. New bridges have been constructed, but the state of FL has modified some of the old structures to include pedestrian…
MWCA Photography 101 – Class One
MWCA Photography 101 – Class One – I just finished teaching my first photography course at The Monroe-Walton Center for the Arts. It was a 4 week course in the month of February that met on Saturdays from 11:00 am to 12:30pm. We used the art center facility classrooms as our meeting place. It started with learning the basics of the photography triangle of exposure. We focused on aperture, shutter speed, and ISO and how they interact with each other. I encouraged my students to move away from Auto mode…
Salinas Park Pier
Today’s featured photo is “Salinas Park Pier”. Salinas Park is located in Gulf Co Florida on Cape San Blas. We used to be considered the “Forgotten Coast”, but since Cat 5 Hurricane Michael hits us directly we are now on the map. The area is probably about 75% recovered. All new construction has to be rated at Cat 3 to hopefully prevent the destruction we saw with HM. We lost the old Florida feel, but are still a coastal community of richness in many ways. If you ever venture our…
Durango/Silverton Train 473
Today’s featured photo is “Durango/Silverton Train 473”. The hubby and I enjoyed our visit to Colorado in October of 2021. One of our stops on our ten day trip was in Durango, CO. We spent three days in the Durango area and one of the days we rode the Durango/Silverton steam locomotive train from Durango to Silverton, CO. As the day went on it became colder and colder and snowed on us most of the way to Silverton. It was a winter wonderland and we had a blast though it…
She Sells Seashells
Today’s featured photo is “She Sells Seashells”. Cockle shells are very common in our area of the panhandle of Florida. This one was found on our beach in St Joe Beach, FL. Honestly I believe they are common to all areas of FL. This beauty was waiting on me on my morning walk to have it’s picture taken. I’m an avid shell collector, but left this beauty for someone else to collect. Please note you can purchase my work by using the “Shop For Photos” link at the top of…
The Mighty Redwoods
Today’s featured photo is “The Mighty Redwoods”. The hubby and I enjoyed our visit to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks in CA in August of 2021. This was our first trip via airplane since the COVID pandemic began in 2020. We are lovers of all National Parks and honestly Kings and Sequoia NP’s did not disappoint. The wild fires made for a very smoky visit which I always have issues with, but did manage to survive even though it took me several weeks after our visit to finally clear…
Pasture Tree Sunrise
Today’s featured photo is “Pasture Tree Sunrise”. This tree is my favorite tree on our farm and by far the most photographed. It’s beautiful ever season of the year. This photo was taken the Spring of 2021 at sunrise and did not disappoint. Please note you can purchase my work by using the “SHOP FOR PHOTOS” link at the top of my site or if you are interested in this print then just click on the link below “Out and About – Pasture Tree Sunrise”. Fire Tree
Today’s featured photo is “Fire Tree”. This tree is very significant for me. It still stands after a fire that ravaged 20+ acres beside our neighborhood in St Joe Beach, FL in April 2017 and if that wasn’t enough Cat 5 Hurricane Michael blew through in October 2018 and destroyed our area. It still stands and I know that one day it will be gone, but until then I will continue to draw upon it’s strength to stand tall. Please note you can purchase my work by using the “SHOP…
Morning Glory
Today’s featured photo is “Morning Glory”. The morning glories are enjoying this cooler summer weather now that we are in Sept. My favorite tree on our farm in Bold Springs, GA is in the background. I’m sure people get tired of seeing it, but anything I can do to include it I do. It won’t be long until Fall is upon us. 2020 has been an extremely tough year for everyone, so stay safe and let’s all work together to come together as a nation again. Please note you can…
Pretty in Pink
Today’s feature photo is “Pretty in Pink”. I shot this at our farm Bramble’s Way in Bold Springs, GA. This flowering plum tree always shows off in the spring. It is always a favorite of mine until it decides to let go of all of it’s pink blooms and everything is covered pink petals. Don’t forget to smell the flowers and enjoy their beauty. God gave us wonderful world to live in and we should appreciate it for all of it’s beauty. Please note you can purchase my work by…
